The World Press Photo will arrive in Oeiras in September

The exhibition opens for the first time outdoors on September 15th: the Parque dos Poetas.

Here comes another problem.

The World Press Photo is the competition that leads to the largest photojournalism exhibition in the world every year. The 2021 edition will arrive in the municipality of Oeiras on September 15th.

For the first time outdoors, in times of the pandemic, Parque dos Poetas was chosen as the location for this exhibition. The World Press Photo competition, launched in 1955 by the non-profit organization of the same name, annually awards prizes for photographs that make the public around the world aware of crucial and broken moments of the present.

“It is with great pleasure that the Oeiras Municipality participates in the World Press Photo exhibition. About two years ago we held the exhibition of the Portuguese winner Mário Cruz in the Palácio Anjos, which was a real success. It was therefore clear that the public was very interested in this initiative. We have a Portuguese winner again, Nuno André Ferreira, and so Oeiras is proud to receive the photo exhibition of the events that marked the year around the world, ”says the President of the Municipality of Oeiras, Isaltino Morais.

The 64th edition of the World Press Photo will be on view in Parque dos Poetas at the entrance to the Temple of Poetry. The winning photos will be on display in the Alameda do Parque dos Poetas next to the Almeida Garrett amphitheater until October 15, Monday to Sunday from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. (September 15 to 30) and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. (September 1 to 15). October).

Admission is free. On Saturdays from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., the public can also take part in photo rallies with renowned photographers and photo journalists. Registrations will be made on the day of the rally in the Temple of Poetry.
