The follow up to Band of Brothers has found its director!

AppleTV + is rather in a hurry with its competitors (Netflix, Prime Video, Disney +, HBO Max) and will likely catch up with this new big, very daring project, which will be clarified with the announcement of its director.

A daring project!

AppleTV + launched on November 1, 2019 and seems to have fallen a little behind the other VOD giants. In question: a lack of original series, really outstanding, in its catalog. Three of them stand out, See (by Steven Knight), The Morning Show (with Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon), and Servant (by M. Night Shyamalan. But each of them seem to suffer from comparison with other series of the same kind .

However, if AppleTV + interests us, this is especially true for the upcoming series. We look forward to the Foundation series, in which Isaac Asimov’s SF masterpiece will be adapted. But another project has our eye today.

In October 2019, you were informed that AppleTV + had managed to acquire the Masters of the Air series, developed by legendary Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks. The series, adapted from the book Master of the Air: America’s Bomber Boys Who Waged the Air War against Nazi Germany, by Donald L. Miller, will be a sequel to the miniseries Band of Brothers and The Pacific, whose director and actor is the director and actor is’ Saving Private Ryan had developed for HBO.

Our colleagues at Deadline tell us great news today: Cary Joji Fukunaga, the director of Die Can Wait, the new James Bond whose release date has been postponed again, is joining the project to get the three first episodes of this series that count ten will. Fukunaga is therefore preparing for his comeback on television, having surprised us with the first season of True Detective, a true masterpiece that he has directed all of the episodes. He then shot the ten episodes of the Netflix Maniac mini-series and impressed again with its precise and elegant staging.

We all remember the incredible sequence that completed Episode 4 of Season 1 of True Detective, and we believe that Fukunaga can do wonders in a war series.

The series has no release date yet, but we will keep you updated as soon as we have information on it. Meanwhile, Steven Spielberg, who has just signed a remake of the masterpiece Wild Side Story, is preparing a parallel series for HBO set in medieval Japan. We can’t wait to see all of these projects.
