Berlin (dpa) – A few days before Pentecost, Schleswig-Holstein will open to tourists today under certain conditions. Public life in the northern state is also being revived in other areas.
Bars are allowed to reopen their interiors and tour boats are allowed to take guests back on board. The general director of the hotel and restaurant association (Dehoga), Ingrid Hartges, called on the other countries to take the northern state as an example.
Until now, overnight stays for tourists were only possible in four model regions of Schleswig-Holstein. The state has the lowest rate of corona infections in the entire country. On Sunday evening, the Ministry of Health in Kiel gave the seven-day incidence per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days at 35.1. For the openings, however, tourists must comply with hygiene requirements such as wearing protective masks in certain situations and negative corona tests before arrival and every three days thereafter. Visiting bars requires a negative test result or proof of vaccination protection.
Dehoga director Hartges said of the ARD program “Anne Will”: “I think we can learn from Schleswig-Holstein.” Despite the model regions, the number of infections has decreased. The industry is not a pandemic driver, has long made a “special sacrifice” and needs new perspectives. The so-called 3G principle ‘vaccinated, repaired, tested’ also ensures a lot of safety. It is a responsible opening, Hartges made clear.
Restaurants and hotels have reopened in various regions of Baden-Württemberg since Saturday. Other states have also promised relaxation before Pentecost. Mayor Peter Tschentscher of Hamburg wants to propose to his Senate on Tuesday to reopen outdoor catering at Pentecost, as he said about “Anne Will”.
Lower Saxony and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, where the seven-day incidents approach 50, take a more cautious path than neighboring Schleswig-Holstein. Lower Saxony initially opened tourism only to residents of the state. In Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, gastronomy can be reopened from Pentecost Sunday – outdoors and indoors. Tourism in the state is available on June 7 for residents of the state and on June 14 for guests from the other states. Dietmar Bartsch, the left-wing party leader of the Bundestag with constituency in Rostock, said during the broadcast of “Anne Will” that it was not right for him. “Now it is being postponed a lot.”
The vaccination against the corona virus in Germany is now making good progress. In some states, the priority of vaccinations in medical practices is ending: Baden-Württemberg and Berlin start today, Bavaria is expected to follow during the week, Saxony on May 24. In many places, however, there may not be enough vaccine available to quickly offer vaccination appointments to anyone who wants to be vaccinated. Priorities will remain in the vaccination centers.
More than 30 million people in Germany have received at least one corona vaccination and over 9 million have full vaccination protection.
