There is slightly less vaccination on weekends and holidays. Yet nearly 40 percent of Germans have now received at least one vaccination against the corona virus.
Berlin (dpa) – Vaccination centers and general practitioners in Germany have administered more than 40 million corona vaccination doses to date. According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), 268,750 vaccine syringes were used on Sunday (from 10:05 AM) on Monday.
As Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn announced on Twitter, 37 percent (30.8 million) of Germans have been vaccinated at least once and 11.2 percent (9.3 million) have been fully vaccinated. According to the RKI, 30 million doses have so far been administered in vaccination centers and 10.1 million in medical practices. In the past week, according to information from Wednesday, there was also a daily record of 1.38 million injected doses.
However, vaccination coverage varies depending on the federal state. The Saarland has the highest quota of at least the first people vaccinated with 41.4 percent. Saxony, at 32 percent, is slightly behind the other federal states.
The vaccination campaign in Germany started at the end of last year. First it was the turn of the over-80s, residents of old people’s and nursing homes and medical staff. Preference is also given to chronically ill people with an increased risk of a serious and fatal course.
