Majority in favor of closing schools and day-care centers again | Free press

Most Germans are in favor of closing schools and daycare centers again. West Germans instead of East Germans.

Berlin (dpa) – According to a survey, a majority of Germans would be in favor of schools and daycare centers being closed again given the current Corona situation. 52 percent would “tend” or “completely” approve of this, according to a recent survey by the YouGov poll institute.

34 percent would “somewhat” or “completely” reject such a step, 14 percent did not answer. West Germans (55 percent) are more in favor of closure than East Germans (41 percent).

In Germany, most primary schools reopened in February after being closed for about two months or after emergency care in February. In March, the first older cohorts also gradually returned to the schools in so-called alternating operations. Regionally, however, the increased corona numbers have now responded with closures or a halt to this return. How things will continue in the schools is currently open. In most states, the Easter holidays start this weekend.
