Johnny Depp investigates the murders of Tupac and Notorious BIG in a new film
It’s called “City of Lies” and it’s not confirmed whether it will debut in Portugal. It was performed by Brad Furman.
The film focuses on a detective played by Depp.
The rivalry between rappers Tupac Shakur and Notorious BIG in the 1990s – and the subsequent murders of both, which sparked many conspiracy theories – is about to return to the cinema with the film “City of Lies”. Johnny Depp is the protagonist: he plays a detective who re-investigates the cases 20 years after the crimes were solved.
It has now been announced that the film will open in American cinemas on March 19th – and will appear in digital video clubs on April 9th. So far, production had only started in certain markets such as Italy, Australia or Lithuania. There is still no confirmation as to whether it will debut in Portugal.
City of Lies – whose original title was LAbyrinth – went through a difficult trial after the movie’s location manager Johnny Depp accused him of assaulting him. The lawsuit resulted in the distributor’s refusal to continue debut in 2018 when the Brad Furman-led project was finished. The cast includes names such as Forest Whitaker, Toby Huss and Neil Brown Jr ..
