In 2022, you can see an exhibition on pharaohs and Egyptian art at the Gulbenkian Museum

Gulbenkian is hosting a mega exhibition on pharaohs and Egyptian art

“Faraos Superstar” promises to be the largest exhibition of Egyptian art ever made in the country.

The exhibition is planned for 2022

In October 2022, the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum in Lisbon will show an exhibition dedicated to the pharaohs of ancient Egypt, said the director of the museum, António Filipe Pimentel, according to Agência Lusa, quoted by the Diário de Notícias.

António Filipe Pimentel stated that it should be the largest Portuguese exhibition associated with the pharaohs and Egyptian art: “There will be two exhibitions in one, from an 18th century to the present and from a contemporary perspective. “In this exhibition there are then two perspectives on Egyptian art: a look at the past and a look at the present. “Faraos Superstar” will be the museum’s new bet.

The art historian António Filipe Pimentel and the French curator Benjamin Weil were announced in December as responsible for directing change in the museums of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.

Regarding further plans for this year, António Pimentel refers to the “Art Matters” campaign, linked to the “Black Lives Matter” movement and driven by the events of last May. He recalls that “it is necessary to breathe, that art serves as comfort and opens the creative perspective that helps to increase human resistance”.
