Federal government does not see the Corona completely free for the summer | Free press

How will summer be? Besides the citizens, this question also seems to concern politics. The government spokesman says you shouldn’t be rushed.

Berlin (dpa) – Despite the relaxation of the Corona situation, the federal government still sees no reason to approve everything this summer. The daily declining number of new infections and the accelerating vaccination campaign could make someone confident, but not premature, said government spokesman Steffen Seibert.

“We have not yet reached the conditions to enjoy a summer as relaxing as last year.” The goal must remain to significantly reduce the number of infections. A year ago, the seven-day nationwide incidence was currently five, Seibert explained – on Monday, according to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), 83.1 new cases had been reported per 100,000 residents within seven days. To further reduce the numbers, Seibert referred to states like Schleswig-Holstein, which, at a value of 35, now has the lowest level in Germany.

“Let’s look forward to breaking the third wave together. Let’s enjoy what is possible again in the coming days and weeks, ”says Seibert. Masks, distance, testing and the corona warning app remained allies in the fight against the pandemic. “And this battle isn’t quite over yet.”
