Driver fired after chancellery car attack Free press

The initial excitement was great when a car rammed the gate of the chancellery on Thursday. Now the case is going its rash way with the Berlin State Security investigators.

Berlin (dpa) – A day after the attack by a motorist on the gate of the Federal Chancellery in Berlin, the perpetrator was released by the police. There are no grounds for detention or placement in a mental institution, a police spokeswoman said Thursday.

The investigations of the state security responsible for politically motivated acts at the National Criminal Police (LKA) are continuing. On Wednesday, the 54-year-old man’s car was painted white: “You damn killers of children and the elderly” and “Stop globalization policy”. The man had already hit the Chancellery gate in the same car in February 2014, also described with confused messages.
