For those vaccinated, recovered and tested, relief from the corona pandemic is within reach. The regulation in question has one more hurdle to overcome.

Berlin (dpa) – For fully vaccinated and recovered people, numerous corona restrictions should be removed.

On Thursday, the Bundestag passed by a large majority a corresponding regulation from the federal government. The black-red coalition, the Greens and the Left voted for it. The FDP abstained, the AfD voted against. If the Federal Council also approves this Friday, the relief can take effect on the weekend.

For those who have been vaccinated and recovered, the exemption previously reserved for people with a negative corona test should also apply automatically. It is intended that fully vaccinated or recovered people can meet without disabilities. They should not be counted when meeting other people. For example, in regions with a high number of infections, two unvaccinated people can meet an unlimited number of vaccinated people.

For example, people in nursing homes now have to eat alone in their room for a long time and can eat in the dining room again in the future or that brothers and sisters can visit their mothers together on Mother’s Day. This is what Minister of Justice Christine Lambrecht (SPD) said on Thursday during the discussion of a corresponding regulation in the Bundestag.

Lambrecht was referring to the Federal Constitutional Court, which had rejected urgent applications against nighttime exit restrictions in the course of the Corona emergency brake the day before. She said fundamental rights can be restricted to protect life and health and ensure the functioning of the health system. However, the restrictions should also be lifted – “when this good reason ceases to exist”. Those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered can only put others at risk to a much lesser extent.

The Minister of Justice also stressed that the pandemic should be further combated. “We all need to work very hard so that these steps to normalcy will soon apply not only to those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered, but that we will all work our way back to this long-awaited normalcy.”
