It has been agreed that the lockdown will be extended again. But are the current rules also being tightened? Among other things, a stricter mask requirement in buses and trains and in shops is under discussion.
Berlin (dpa) – Shortly before the new corona talks by federal and state governments on Tuesday afternoon, there are major differences of opinion over stricter measures to contain the pandemic.
As the German news agency learned from participants, the SPD countries announced a number of changes to a draft resolution previously sent to several countries. Corresponding papers were available to the DPA. Preparatory talks should take place ahead of the Prime Ministers’ meeting with Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) scheduled for 2pm.
An extension of the lockdown to mid-February is under discussion. In addition, stricter mask requirements could apply on buses and trains and in shops. Additionally, federal and state governments are considering putting more pressure on employers to allow for more home offices.
