Biden injures his foot and has to wear support shoes | Free press

Washington (AP) – US President-elect Joe Biden sprained his right ankle while playing with his German Shepherd and suffered minor stress fractures in his foot.

Thus, it can be assumed that Biden should wear a boot-like orthopedic support shoe “for several weeks,” said Dr. Kevin O’Connor in a statement circulated by Biden’s office. This allowed Biden to wear the support shoe during his scheduled inauguration on January 20.

The ‘hairline cracks’ related to two small foot bones, called cuneiform bones (os cuneiforme), as the doctor further explained. Biden first visited an orthopedic surgeon in Newark, Delaware, late Sunday afternoon (local time). X-rays did not initially show a fracture. The small hairline cracks were then recognized using an MRI scanner.

A representative from Biden’s office said the president-elect had the injury investigated on Sunday so that his scheduled appointments for Monday would not be affected.

According to his office, the 78-year-old was injured on Saturday while playing with his German Shepherd “Major”. According to reports in the American media, Biden had adopted the dog from a shelter in 2018.

Incumbent President Donald Trump, who usually has nothing but snide and snappy remarks for the Democrat, sent Biden wishes for good health. “You’ll get well soon,” he wrote on Twitter commenting on an NBC video that appeared to show Biden was limping out of orthopedic practice.

The Democrat Biden and his wife Jill have two sheepdogs, “Champ” and “Major,” who will move with them to the White House in January. During the election campaign, Biden even joked about Trump in a tweet for having previously made derogatory comments about a president’s dogs in the White House. According to reports, the Bidens also want to have a cat.

Biden was declared the winner by the US media after the November 3 election. Trump, 74, continues to refuse to acknowledge Biden’s victory. He has been talking about “massive electoral fraud” for weeks, but has not provided reliable evidence. US courts have already dismissed numerous lawsuits to challenge the election results and its Republican allies.

Biden does not seem to be deterred by this and is preparing to take over the government. For example, on Sunday evening, almost at the same time as his injury became known, he announced the heads of the designated communications team at the White House. Jen Psaki would be the government spokeswoman. She served on the board of former Democratic President Barack Obama, including communications director for the White House and a spokeswoman for the State Department.
