Baerbock for the abolition of short-haul flights | Free press

As Chancellor, Annalena Baerbock would be the first official act to initiate an “immediate climate protection program”. Short flights and cheap flights should no longer exist.

Berlin (dpa) – Green Chancellor candidate Annalena Baerbock wants to fight for the abolition of short-haul flights in the event of government takeover.

Even cheap prices like Mallorca flights for 29 euros should no longer exist if you take climate policy seriously, Baerbock told “Bild am Sonntag”: “Anyone can go on holiday wherever they want. But climate-friendly taxation on flights should put an end to such dump prices. “

The Green leader said it was unfair for tax money to subsidize kerosene while long-distance train journeys were expensive, especially at peak times. “If you travel by train as a family, you should pay less than you would for the short distance on the plane,” she said. “And yes, short haul flights should no longer exist in perspective.”

The first law she would enact as Chancellor would be an “immediate climate protection program”. She announced that she would enforce mandatory solar systems for new buildings: “In the future, Germany will generally only need to build new buildings with a sunroof.”
