Another accused and another raid on the Nüßlein case | Free press

The criminal investigation into the mask affair is expanding. Now there is one more accused. In addition, the police left to search again.

Munich (dpa) – In the corruption investigation against Bundestag member Georg Nüßlein (formerly CSU) in connection with mask cases, a third is now accused.

According to the Munich prosecution, this is not a politician. Her spokesperson did not want to give any more details on Thursday. The media had previously reported on the third suspect.

According to information from the German news agency, there had been another house search in Munich on Wednesday – the other suspect, who is said to be a businessman.

Two weeks ago, the prosecutor’s office had searched 13 properties in Germany and Liechtenstein in connection with the investigation against Nüßlein and a second, unnamed suspect. It is about the initial suspicion of bribery and bribery of elected officials in transactions with corona protective masks.

Nüßlein’s lawyer had stated that his client had received a commission through his own company for such transactions involving FFP2 masks. But this has nothing to do with parliamentary activity. The lawyer dismissed the charge of corruption.

The former deputy group leader of the Trade Union Nüßlein has since left the CSU. Despite similar demands, the 51-year-old has not given up his parliamentary mandate. Bundestag member Nikolas Löbel had also left the CDU due to a six-figure commission through a mask company and has returned his mandate.

The mask affair has now become a major burden, especially for the union faction in the Bundestag. The top of the parliamentary group gave the members of the CDU and CSU a Friday evening deadline to submit some sort of declaration on their honor. The approximately 250 parliamentarians must ensure that they have not obtained financial benefits in connection with the fight against the corona pandemic.
