A new twist in the future of the series makes fans jump

Mindhunter fans have been living with the sword of Damocles over their heads for several months: in fact, their favorite series is threatened with cancellation. However, a new twist in the future is making fans of the Netflix series jump!

Netflix and Fincher get on our nerves

Since its release in 2017, the Mindhunter series has been one of the most popular series by Netflix subscribers. The series was produced and partially staged by gigantic filmmaker David Fincher (Se7en, Fight Club, Zodiac) and allowed the SVOD director to acquire content for the less respected. Mindhunter narrated the beginnings of the FBI’s serial killer profiling techniques and followed the line of greatest thrillers, starting with The Silence of the Lambs by Jonathan Demme.

Unfortunately, the series has been threatened with cancellation after only two seasons in the last few months. Two major factors have worked against it: First, Netflix’s budget is deemed too high given the number of subscribers the series has garnered. then the overloaded schedule of its producer, lead director and show runner David Fincher, which collapses among the projects.

We remind you that David Fincher, having made his first feature film since 2014, the excellent Mank, is preparing to make a new film adapted from the French comic Le Tueur, and for the occasion with the Screenwriter from Se7en will work together. before he starts producing a miniseries around the movie Chinatown. While the trailer for season two of Love, Death & Robots, the other Netflix series produced by David Fincher, has just been released, it still seems like the filmmaker is considering returning to Mindhunter.

In fact, today we learn from our American colleagues on the Small Screen website that David Fincher would be talking to Netflix to restart Mindhunter. The American media actually covers the words of a Netflix insider:

Negotiations between Netflix and Fincher continue. They are negotiating the possibility of starting season three production. David Fincher is very excited!

This news makes us particularly optimistic about the future of Mindhunter. In fact, Netflix has always refused to officially cancel the series. For several years, SVOD has been trying to create an aura of prestige for itself, to soften the eyes of moviegoers by producing content tailored to them (Okja by Bong Joon-ho, The Irishman by Martin Scorsese, etc.). And the Mindhunter series is an integral part of that strategy of seduction.

Right now we don’t know how far the negotiations between David Fincher and Netflix will go. Does the start of season three mean the filmmaker delegates a little more so that he can take care of all of his projects? Will the director and the platform find a budget compromise? Of course we will keep you up to date as soon as we have the information. Regardless, fans have already exploded their glee over the news!

Well, it looks like Sir Fincher is talking to Netflix about a possible new season of Mindhunter. There’s something good about this world. u263a ufe0f “Like finally St├ęphane in Mindhunter …” pic.twitter.com/uwqJW3RY6M
