New support for culture: 42 million and 30% of Portuguese music on the radio
The Minister of Culture announced the approval of a special program to seek to reduce the impact of the crisis caused by the pandemic in the sector.
Support was announced this Thursday.
Culture Minister Graça Fonseca announced this Thursday, January 14th, the approval of a program to support culture worth 42 million euros. The measures are non-refundable and are not awarded as part of a tender.
The initiative is part of the first phase of a state budget program for 2021 designed to support artistic work in the country. The support is aimed at theaters, agents and associations as well as artists, technicians and authors.
In addition, the proportion of Portuguese radio productions in music will increase to 30 percent. The aim is to promote Portuguese artists and national music.
Anyone with a Cultural Sector Code on the IRS will receive € 438.81. This is a universal support for all cultural workers and “accumulates with other general support for the rest of the population”.
1.4 million euros are earmarked for the cinema sector and for the financing of six audiovisual and multimedia works. Recall that this Friday, January 15th, the country will enter a new phase of detention at midnight. The culture-related services will be closed during this time.
