1.35 million people vaccinated in one day | Free press

The vaccinations against the corona virus are gaining momentum. This is also reflected in the figures. There was a vaccination record on Wednesday. But vaccination coverage varies depending on the federal state.

Berlin (dpa) – In Germany, more people were vaccinated against the corona virus on Wednesday than ever before. According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), 1,353,453 vaccination syringes were used on that day and 408,260 on Ascension Day.

As Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) announced on Twitter, nearly 2 percent of the German population was vaccinated on both days.

This means that 35.9 percent (29.8 million) of people in Germany have been vaccinated at least once and 10.6 percent (8.8 million) are fully protected. According to the RKI, there were already three days before the new daily record was set in recent weeks where more than a million syringes were used. In total, approximately 38.6 million vaccine doses were administered through Thursday.

Vaccination coverage varies depending on the federal state. The Saarland has the highest quota of at least the first people vaccinated with 40.4 percent. Saxony, at 31.1 percent, is slightly behind the other federal states.

The vaccination campaign in Germany started at the end of last year. First it was the turn of the over-80s, residents of old people’s and nursing homes and medical staff. Preference is also given to chronically ill people with an increased risk of a serious and fatal course.
